How is auction topper Excellent Black doing?

In April 2020, the Grand Prix horse Excellent Black was purchased by the family Ross during the first EDS online auction and became the auction topper. Eight months later, Fenella Ross, new rider of Excellent Black, tell us how the black stallion is doing.

Ross: “What a handsome and sweet horse he is, was the first thing I though when I met Excellent Black. It was immediately obvious that he was extremely talented and enthusiastic in his work, but also a really nice temperament.

At the moment Excellent Black is good. He and I are getting to know each other more all the time both in our training and in the barn. During the training we  are focussing on putting the Grand Prix work together. All the movement we can do, but now we need to learn to ride them in sequence and keep the consistency throughout.

Because of the corona virus we couldn’t ride as much competitions as we would have like to, but I was able to take Excellent Black to a couple of shows where we started in the Intermediate II. This was my first time at this level and we scored over 66%, which I am super happy with for our starting point. Now we work towards the Grand Prix for 2021. The ultimate goal for us will be to ride international Grand Prix together and aim perhaps for some major championships.

So I am still very happy with Excellent Black. I love his focus on his rider. As soon as you are riding Excellent Black, he is very in tune to you. No matter what the surroundings, he always tries his best for me.”
