The full-brother to the dressage legend Valegro will be available for bid at the Excellent Dressage Sales (EDS) auction in partnership with the KWPN. Named Lelegro, this son of the preferent sire Negro out of the keur mare Maifleur (s. Gershwin) was born on April 21 in the stables of Joop and Maartje Hanse of Burgh-Haamstede. The colt will go under the hammer on Saturday, July 30, at the auction, which runs concurrently with the FEI World Breeding Championships for Young Dressage Horses at the National Equestrian Center in Ermelo. The auction is a unique international podium for a special collection of dressage horses and foals.
Wonder-Horse Valegro
Valegro is the world’s best dressage horse under British rider Charlotte Dujardin. After capturing two gold medals at the London Olympics, the combination has attained unprecedented success. In 2013, the KWPN gelding set new world records and won gold medals at the European Championships in Herning. Since then, the Negro son has clinched the World Cup Final twice.
Wonderpaard Valegro
In 2014, the duo again rose to the highest podium at the World Equestrian Games in Caen; and in 2015, Valegro confirmed his star status at the European Championships in Aachen by posting the highest score in all his tests. This coming summer, this special KWPN horse will be in his favorite role at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. The auction of his only full-brother is a unique opportunity to purchase a top talent in the making.
Special Edition
This edition of the EDS auction promises to be a special event. Last week, we also received news that the six-year-old KWPN stallion Four Legends (Wynton x Ferro) will be offered in this auction. With the addition of Lelegro, the full-brother to the world’s best dressage horse, the collection is becoming increasingly more impressive. The complete collection, which will include approximately 15 dressage horses and 15 dressage foals, will be announced in early July.
