How do the EDS selection days work?

The EDS-Prinsenstad online foal auction 2021 will take place on Saturday 21 August. In order to present a good and diverse collection of dressage foals, the EDS team is organizing several selection days in June. Read here how you as a breeder or owner of a foal can participate in these selection days and what you can expect from a selection day.

How do you register your foal?
Are you interested in presenting your foal during one of the selection days to the EDS team? It’s possible. You can register for one of the selection days via the online registration form. If you prefer to contact us personally, you can call Joep Schellekens (06 26 36 01 96) or send an email to info@excellentdressagesales.com.

Participation in an EDS selection day is free of charge. You will only be charged after your foal has been added to the collection. If you have any questions about these costs, please contact Joep Schellekens (06 26 36 01 96).

What is involved in the preparation?
Prior to the selection day you will receive the time when your foal is expected in the ring. You will also receive documents requesting information about the foal, which you must bring with you during the selection day.

Each foal must appear in the ring as clean as possible and braided, as photos and videos are taken immediately. The foals are presented together with their (carrier) mother, where the foals run free and are shown in all three gaits. It is wise to practice this at home on beforehand, so you know what to expect from the mare and foal.

How does an EDS selection day go?

As soon as you arrive at the location of the EDS selection day, you can sign up to one of the EDS employees. They will receive the completed forms and can tell you how long you have left before your foal can enter the ring.

Before your foal will be presented in movement, the EDS team will first assess the foal on exterior and leg position. Afterwards, the mare will take over by one of the professional handlers, so the EDS team can also assess the movements of the foal. When your foal was presented in movement, the EDS team will immediately inform you about their assessment and indicate whether the foal is included in the collection.
